We will not have a newsletter for the month of July. We will also NOT have a general membership meeting due to a conflict with the State Board of Directors meeting and conflicting schedules. Below, we have provided a copy of the minutes to the last meeting held in June, prior to the Poker Ride. 7/2 – NOTE, THE JULY RIDE AND MEETING AT PEE WEE CREEK HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO CONFLICTING SCHEDULES AND STATE BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING. AUGUST MEETING WILL BE THE EVENING OF AUGUST 16 AT LYNCH’S. PRIEST RIVER VALLEY BACK COUNTRY HORSEMEN BURGER EXPRESS – PRIEST RIVER MINUTES Meeting called to order by President, Tom Walton. Minutes of May 9, 2003 minutes were approved as published. Treasurers report was given by Brenda Jones. Brenda advised that we still need an updated list of members who have paid their dues. Brenda will call Don Shields to see if he can bring the information to the Poker Ride. Fern Stauffer volunteered to call past members who have not paid their dues. Tom Walton read a thank you letter from Kathy Murphy, District Manager, U.S. Forest Department. This letter was to thank the Back Country Horsemen for its support of the Priest Lake District trails program. Poker Ride: Bob Savage advised that the trails are o.k. He has some concern for the water tank at the top. We would like to keep the tank full, but it is not a priority. Bob Savage advised that we ordered one port-a-potty. Concern was expressed for the entry road, in particular one area where the road washes away each year. We want to be sure we have flagged that area. Sunshine Yarber will be catering the bar-b-que this year. It will be hotdogs, hamburgers, baked beans, potato salad, fresh corn on the cob, pop and water. He will furnish plates, utensils, and clean up. The following people volunteered for the following: We will meet at noon on Friday to set tarps & tents. Pot luck dinner Friday night. Kevin Paulas has volunteered to entertain. We anticipate a good turnout. Barbara Taylor has done an excellent job of pulling everything together while preparing for finals. (Barbara is completing web page design and development courses and graduates June 13) Thank You Barbara – and congratulations. Chuck and Elaine Gordon cleaned up the gravel pit, which included hauling away five truck loads of trash. Now that is above and beyond the call of duty! Thank You! Thank you! Thank You! OTHER BUSINESS Fern Stauffer will send Jim Murphy a thank you letter for the excellent job he did on the packing clinic. Bob Savage will be preparing an inventory list of equipment and items owned by the Chapter. He will also prepare a list of items that need repair or should be added to our inventory. Tom Walton suggested we buy a set of bear proof pack boxes for the club to have for members to check out. The following rides have been scheduled. These are overnighters. We need volunteers for day rides and request for week-end rides. August 2nd is on the schedule for Gypsy Meadows. Details will be published later. August 16th has been tentatively set for riding, river float races, spud cannon, and margaritas at the Lynch’s. This is a fun time you don’t want to miss. Labor Day Week-end – Squaw Valley Next meeting will be Saturday, July 12 at Pee Wee Creek. Meet at 11:00AM
